Project Information

Homework
You will be given one Homework Assignments each week. You will submit your homework solutions online using the Lon Capa system (lc.cit.jmu.edu). Late homework assignments will NOT be accepted. Therefore, please plan accordingly and start the homework as soon as possible.

Examinations
This course will contain three in-class examinations and a comprehensive final exam. If you must miss an exam, contact Dr. Nikolic as soon as possible. Make-up exams may be given on a case by case basis, but you must have a legitimate reason for missing an exam or you will receive a zero for the exam. All examinations are closed book. You will be permitted to use a calculator and formula sheet(s) of your own construction (both sides of an 8½″×11″ sheet). Your sheet may not contain any worked problems.

Exam Dates
Exam 1: Wednesday, September 24, 2014
Exam 2: Wednesday, October 15, 2014
Exam 3: Wednesday, November 5, 2014
Final Exam: Monday, December 8, 2014: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Your course grade is determined as follows:
Homework 30%
Three Midterm Exams 45%
Final Exam (Cumulative) 25%

Class participation includes class activities, attitude… and will be used in the case of borderline grades.

Attendance
Attendance is not mandatory except for exams. Attendance will be taken. On exam days, if the absence is related to a University-sanctioned activity or due to a religious observance, prior notification in writing must be given. If the absence is related to a personal situation, notify me in a timely manner and provide proof of the situation if such can reasonably be provided. I will consider each personal situation as it arises. While attendance is otherwise not required, it is highly recommended as there is a strong correlation between doing well on the exams and regularly attending class. Keep in mind that all information discussed in lecture is fair game for the exams. All material in the textbook is fair game for the exams regardless of whether or not it is discussed in lecture.

University Honor Code
You are expected to conform to the University Honor Code in all aspects of your conduct in this course. You may work with others on the homework assignments; however, what you submit must represent your own understanding of the problem. Submitting answers online for problems that you have not worked out is cheating. Violations of the honor code are outlined at http://www.jmu.edu/honor/code.shtml.
– If class is cancelled due to inclement weather, an announcement will be made on Canvas regarding any plans to make up for the missing time.
– Students with disabilities that require accommodations should contact me as soon as reasonably possible to discuss them.
– James Madison University has many computer labs, learn them and use them

Arrive on time! If you must be late, come in quietly! Don’t chat/text or disturb the class in any ways!
